Jon Ralston and EdJudicate panel member, Terry Coffing, analyze the candidates for the 2014 Judicial Election.
For the last twelve years, the Las Vegas Review-Journal has sponsored a survey issued to Clark County lawyers asking them to rate the judges currently serving on the bench.
Evaluated in this year's survey were Nevada Supreme Court justices, Clark County district judges, Clark County Family Court judges, and justices of the peace and municipal judges in Las Vegas, Henderson, and North Las Vegas.
Lawyers were instructe dto rate only the judges with whom they had personal and case-related experience. 902 attorneys responded this year. Participants rated judges as "more than adequate," "adequate," or "less than adequate" on up to 12 traits believed to characterize good judges.
Respondents were also asked if the judge in question should be retained. The retention results can be viewed here.
